Green, green Christmas?

Intelligent post from the Marketing Green blog today on "green" products' success during this holiday season. I agree with many of the reasons why "green" isn't being as highly publicized as it could be, however, I contend that what may appear to be a lack of interest in "green" products and businesses may be more of a share of voice issue than an issue of consumer disinterest. This time of year, a marketing and messaging blitz occurs and normally brands with the biggest coffers naturally get the biggest share of voice among consumers. I am enthused by two things: the amount of green gift guides and green gifts added to traditional gift guides, and speaking as an expert in my own little Interwoven Threads world, sales are hoppin' this season.

As blogger David Wigder states, I think there's little cause for alarm here...I think it's a symptom of an emerging mindset and market. We'll be having a much different conversation this time next year.
